2010 Guest Artists Selected

The 2010 Anchorage Folk Festival guest artists selected to perform next January are Brother Mule and Sweet Sunny South. Please check back for more information about these fantastic performers.

AFF Welcomes Hopper, See, Brown, Lynch, Schallert, and Barske to the Board of Directors:

Caitlin Hopper, a student at UAA has been a performer and volunteer at the Festival for many years. We look forward to her ideas and enthusiasm, particularly as we build our relationship with the university community.

Marianne See is a musician of long standing in the Anchorage folk community, touring in Alaska, nationally, and internationally with the bluegrass band, McLeod. Marianne has held a variety of managerial positions in state government, and brings insight into the business of producing folk performance and a wealth of experience in program management.

Ken Brown, an Alaska DOT een very active in various music circles. Ken has done stage lighting and other festival chores and will assist with the AFF website.

Liz Lynch has promoted large events on college campuses, volunteering countless hours at music festivals and is also a musician. Liz works for BP as a communications advisor producing newsletters and managing websites. Liz has a passion for music and is skilled in design, photography and grant writing. Liz manages of our Facebook page.

Mary Schallert - Well-known active leader and supporter of the music community, workshop coordinator, past board member and director of the Alaska City Folk Arts Camp ...who plays a mean fiddle.

Elliot Barske - Long time supporter, volunteer, membership coordinator, past board member...the Board Band percussionist.

AFF NEWS ARCHIVES

New Location for AFF Board of Directors' Meetings

The Anchorage Folk Festival Board of Directors will now meet in Room 2401 of the Cancer Therapy Center at 3851 Piper Street, Anchorage. The building is one of the new Health Park Buildings in the Providence Medical Center Complex.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Members of the public are invited to attend.

AFF Awarded ASCA, Rasmuson, and Municipal Grants

Over the past five months, the Anchorage Folk Festival has been awarded grants from three prominent funding agencies: the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Rasmuson Foundation, and the Municipality of Anchorage/Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation. AFF is excited about the opportunities for growth and sustainability that these grants will bring.
