| AFC Classes 2007> MANDOLIN Mandolin I (Dave Junge) Students will learn basic right hand technique, rhythm, chords, and how to move around the fretboard.. Mandolin II (Tom Sauber) - This intermediate + level class will be split between: (1) technique building exercises for both the right and left hand; (2) two differing approaches to playing fiddle tunes; and (3) playing songs, both lead and back-up. Students ideally should be comfortable playing in the keys of C, G, D, and A. If class level, interest and time dictates, we'll explore the keys of E, F, Bb, and maybe even B. Just a few favorites of mine whose playing I can recommend for your listening and learning are Grover Salyer, Ted Hawkins, Bill Bolick, and Bill Monroe. Irish Mandolin/Tenor Banjo I & II (Eamon O'Leary) These classes will seek to accommodate those who are just starting out as well as those looking to expand their repertoires on the banjo or mandolin. We'll cover as many different types of tunes as time allows, with particular emphasis on rhythm, phrasing and ornamentation. |
