KENNY JACKSON
Kenny Jackson has been called "one of the finest
old-time musicians active today." Best known for his
fiddling, rooted deep in old, pre-radio Appalachian styles,
Kenny is a compelling singer, banjo player and guitarist as
well. In the last couple of decades, Kenny has been a part
of one influential string band after another—in the
mid-80s, with Leftwich, Higginbotham, and Jackson, since 1988
with The Rhythm Rats (as a founding member), and since 1999
with Big Medicine (again as a founding member). Apart from
performing and recording, Kenny enjoys sharing his knowledge,
and he's a sought-after teacher who works with individual
students as well as at workshops and music camps like the
Augusta Heritage Arts Workshops and Ashokan Fiddle and Dance
Camp. |

TOM SAUBER
Tom Sauber is a master musician in a variety of styles,
a multi-instrumentalist (banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin)

devoted nearly 40 years to playing old-time, bluegrass, and
Cajun music and is particularly known for his long-time partnerships
with Oklahoma fiddler Earl Collins (with whom he recorded
the classic LP That’s Earl) and North Carolina banjo
picker Eddie Lowe, both now deceased. Tom’s contributions

on station KPFK in Los Angeles. He holds a masters degree
in folklore, and contributed musical analyses to the notes

NANCY CONESCU
Nancy is best known for her singing in traditional Irish and
American ballads. A Native New Yorker, she was exposed at
an early age to the music and traditions of many cultures.

narrative depth, innate lyricism and incomparable melodic
shifts. Although known for remarkable voice, Nancy Conescu
is also a fine guitarist. Her imaginative and polished accomplishment
style keeps her in high demand, and she has performed with
many of the world's, most respected Celtic musicians, including
fiddlers Martin Hayes, Kevin Burke, Brian Conway, Gerry Harrington,
piper Gerry O' Grada and accordionist Charlie Piggott. Nancy
has toured extensively throughout Ireland and France, and
appeared on both TV and radio there. She has also performed
at festivals and concerts throughout the US, and her vocal
technique workshops have become very popular with singers

a mirage of great fiddlers including Aubrey Haynie, Stuart
Duncan, Buddy Spicher and Alison Krause. Constantly being
around these great musicians, Brianís fiddling has
taken flight incorporating many styles such as Bluegrass,
swing, Irish, and old time. He is currently playing with Grand

LIA ZITO
Lia teaches fiddle and plays mostly Irish fiddle. She began
with the Suzuki method at 6 but figured out soon enough that
she was much more interested in Irish music than classical
violin. Doing her best to mimic the people in the recordings
she admired, Lia recently made a pilgrimage to James Kelly
to get some real instruction and direction in how to sound
like the old guys. She hopes in her playing to move towards
an older sound, and in her teaching to demystify this strange
box we move our appendages around to help people get closer
to playing for joy.Lia's
