the state since 1983. We will accept anyone into our troupe, regardless
of dance experience. We want to put on a good show while remembering that
this is a fun recreational activity and are always learning new dances
to put into our repetoire.

Lobo: (Formerly Bitey the Dog). Finger
style guitar. Lobo sleeps on the forest floor, suddenly the tarantula

Paul Paslay: Acoustic guitar and voice.
Betty Arnett: Storyteller.
Winds of Time: Recorder consort plus.
A folk group made up of recorder, violin, guitar, kantela, string bass
and voices. They play everything from the medieval to the contemporary.

The Northern Lights Celtic Dancers: A
local Irish dance troupe dedicated to traditional and “state of

McLeod: Kick
ass blue grass. Dave Manheimer, Lowell Webb, Marianne See, Linda Ziegler,

Okay Dokey: Mexican “ranchero”.
The mariachi boys are back and they have the hats to prove it. Fidencio

Shanel Polard:
Local singer, voted Miss Black Alaska 2008, loves
to sing gospel because it is music that warms the heart and lifts the
spirit. She has sung for the 50th anniversary of the NAACP in front
of Dr. Martin Luther King III, as well as other community events.
Excell: One of Anchorage’s
most sought after Hip Hop dance teams, made up of mostly Bartlett High
students.
Founding members Cameron Rollins and Brennae May are still performing
with the troupe.
Guest Speaker – Kevin Powell: "Dr. King, Civil Rights,
and the Hip Hop Generation."
Alaska Native Heritage Center Dancers: Members
of the dance program include extremely dedicated and enthusiastic students
representing many different Alaska Native cultures. The dancers, dressed
in traditional regalia, perform dances that tell the stories of traditional
legends and lifestyles.
Eddy Harvey: Passionate Spoken Word
Artist known as “LIVE”. Lyrical Intensity over Vibes that
are Eccentric.
Culture Brothers: We are a diverse
group, Karma is Tibetan, Carl is Yup’ik. Our “world music”
is a way to keep our cultures alive. Karma Lama, Carl Wassilie, John

Midnight Sun Zombies: Bluegrass. Back from
the crypt, playing music of the Dead and the Undead. Brett Jokela, Nino

Philip Price: Singer/Songwriter.
Irish ballads/traditional. After many years in the music scene in Ireland,
England, and the lower 48, Philip Price is thrilled to be a part of
the vibrant folk and Irish scene in Alaska. Although an academic by
day at the University of Alaska, Philip (or “the real Dr. Phil”
as he is known to many of his students) has a true passion for the Irish
ballads. Born and reared in Dublin, Philip has performed and recorded
with a variety of Dublin traditional and bluegrass bands including the
Druids, The Blasket Sound and Turlough and has opened for internationally
known bands including the Dubliners.

Terry Kelly: Singer/songwriter. Songs
about love, bears and other wildlife.
Rat Patrol with Pat the Rat: Folk and contemporary.
Pat Wendt was given the name “Pat the Rat” by the late great
John Hale, who helped start KABN radio. Pat a long time Alaskan, has toured
nationally, regionally and locally as a bass player. He has been playing
solo guitar for a couple of years in restaurants and volunteers his music
for shut-ins and other charity events.
John Alexander: 50’s and 60’s
folk. After 30+ years of not doing music, it’s time to start again.
Celtic Consort: Instrumental. Olde
tyme music from Scotland and Ireland. Jeff Graham, Linda Yarborough, Marla
McCrorie.
Delaney Scott: Folk/Country. Delaney
has been performing at the Anchorage Folk Festival for three years. She
is 17 years old and is a Junior and Bartlett High School.
Three Fish in a Tree: Acoustic. Family
fun with Shonti Elder, Bill Frey, Kluonie Frey and Devin Frey.
The Rav IV: Rock & classic rock.
Up-tempo music and songs from yesterday and today. Jerry John, Kevin Cassity,

Sneaky Feeling: Acoustic guitar and

Hopper Family Band: The family that
plays together, stays together. Robin, Caiti, Grady and Bruce. Where’s

Weanoverlan: Original and alternative. Two
musicians who met on a shuttle bus, and from there, the rest is history.

Shamwari:
African marimba. Lively Shona marimba music from Zimbabwe.

Mary Schallert: Folk. That shouldn’t
be a surprise; Mary is the Director of Alaska Folk Arts. She has touched
the musical lives of so many of Anchorage’s young musicians.
Midnight Sun Cloggers: An all female contemporary
clog and percussion step dance group. Angela, Becky, Brianna, Cheryl,
Dixine, Jessica, Kari, Katrina, Kristie, Lindsay, Lyn, Marcy, Robin, Shannon
and Teresa.
Kray, Van, Kirk: Singer/songwriter. A medicine for melancholy.
Melissa Beck: Folk. Singer/songwriter
performs original songs and personal favorites about Alaska and this thing
we call life.
Slightly Touched: Folk and Bluegrass.
The name says it all; the group, the music and how you will be after hearing

Randall Williams: Thoughtful acoustic.
Thoughtful, rhythmic and very real.
The Luvpuppets: Acoustic rock. The
Luvpuppies are an original rock band. This is their third year to go unplugged
for the Anchorage Folk Festival. In the past five years, they have logged
over 300 gigs from Fairbanks to Homer. Come and check out their high-energy

Matts: Rockin’ fiddlin’. Soaring

Rogues and Wenches:Irish and Scottish pub songs and
sea chanteys. Rogues and wenches are patrons of a 16th century Elizabethan
alehouse, who sing for one another’s mutual entertainment. Irish,
Scottish and English drinking songs, sea shanties and pirate fare slated
